Rain has been falling here since late Monday night and is still coming down even though the weather report has called for lingering showers. If these are lingering, I would hate to see heavy rainfall.
Cape Girardeau, MO has received more than 12 inches of rain. One man's truck was swept into the water; the man drown before he could be rescued. However, a mother and her small children were saved. Free sand is being given to those who wish to fill their own bags. So many shelters have been set up for those who have had to evacuate their homes.
In Illinois a levy has been breached about 30 miles from my home, parts of many major highways have been closed, and a train wreck occurred about 15 miles from my house. I live on a hill, but the fields and pastures surrounding my house have become great lakes--it is still raining! Only a few minutes ago, small pellets of ice started falling, bouncing everywhere, but now it is raining again!
I must say that this winter has been one to remember. We have had snow several times, ice several times and now the rains have set in to visit for a while. I am so very ready for spring and some decent weather.

Oh Angie, that's awful. I hope you and yours are safe and dry.
Oh Ange, you have my sympathy.I hope good weather is restored soon.
It is clear today! Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now if Spring would only show herself!
There is such a thing as "too much of a good thing"! I believe Illinois and Missouri have reached and surpassed that. Hope everyone uses good judgement and no one is drowned. Rushing water can be treacherous and misleading.
People here are notorious for their lack of good sense when driving. They never cease to amaze me.
I've been watching the news and all the flooding. It is always sad to see so many people's lives disrupted. You and yours take care.
Annie :o)
Thank you, Annie. We are doing fine and the water is receding in some places but rising in others--crazy! More rain is in the forecast for next week. I hope that it is wrong.
You and that dawg need to "dry out!"
That's the truth!
If the water starts to rise where you are, get out fast...things can be replaced but people can't..*hugs*
things are much better now!
From the latest reports, especially in Missouri, the flooding is very bad, as the rivers are still cresting. Please take best care and be careful!
It is still bad in some areas but much better here where I live. Rain is supposed to come again tonight; I hope that it isn't a repeat performance.
Your right this is a winter that I myself will never forget! I hope you and your family are safe- our flooding is coming soon! Not fun at all - I get all stressed out! Please take care - I will pray for you
Thank you so much. You will be in my thoughts also.
Too, too, way too much water! Yikes! I saw reports and pictures, but your report and pic are just as good! I hope things have started receding and drying up by now!
